Whitening
Everyone wants whiter teeth. It’s no coincidence that the smile that sticks most in your mind is the easy smile, the clean smile, but age and wine and tobacco and coffee all seem to conspire against the clean smile. One of the fastest and most simple methods to rejuvenate your teeth back to a more youthful and bright smile is through modern whitening techniques. We have found two whitening methods to be most effective in treating the kind of common staining that goes along with living a normal life.
At-Home Whitening
The most common and affordable way to brighten up a diminishing smile is through a gradual bleaching process. Usually, the patient has impressions taken of their teeth in the office by a dental professional. A set of carefully fitted trays are then custom designed for the patient’s mouth. Then patient is sent home with the trays and a whitening solution, usually a peroxide mixture and instructions. The trays and solution must be worn at least two hours a day for two-three weeks. This method works effectively for patients with daily schedules that allow for a couple of hours of treatment, usually in the evening after dinner. If the regimen is strictly followed, a significant whitening will result.
Zoom Whitening
Zoom Whitening is a state-of-the-art and very quick solution to yellowed or otherwise stained teeth, often chosen by patients with busy lifestyles that may not have time for a two hour per day at-home tray treatment. We’re living in the age of the “immediate”. Immediate communication. Immediate gratification. And with Zoom Whitening, immediate improvement. With Zoom, one office visit is all it takes for a significantly brighter smile. The Zoom process is a little more expensive than the tray method, but it’s completed in one day. Concentrated LED lights are used to activate a special bleaching agent that has been applied to the teeth. We’ve found LED light to be more comfortable for our patients than the older UV light method. The treatment only a takes a couple of hours and has none of the hassles associated with the two-week at-home tray method.
