Dr. Sharon Miyamoto received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in 1988.
She enjoyed private practice while teaching as an adjunct professor at the USC School of Dentistry in the Department of Periodontology. She was active in organized dentistry with the Los Angeles Dental Society and past-president of the Japanese American Dental Society.
She then returned to the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC for her post-graduate degree in Periodontics.
While attending the Periodontal Program, she worked on research, teaching dental students and had formal training in implant placement during her post-graduate studies. After graduation, she continued to teach at the dental school in the periodontal program for many years.
She practiced in Orange County for 20 years and Torrance for the last 12 years. She enjoys working with Dr. Pinedo and her staff at our office.
Dr. Miyamoto is a member of the American Dental Society, the California Dental Society, the Harbor Dental Society and the American Academy of Periodontology. She has been a member of the Peer Review Panel for the Harbor Dental Society and she continues to devote her time to continuing education, learning about current research and new techniques.
Dr. Miyamoto spend time outside of the office as a member of the USC South Bay Trojan League, National Charity League and was an executive board member of the PTSA at the local high school. She spend time volunteering at different philanthropies throughout the South Bay and helps to raise money for scholarships and local students. Dr. Miyamoto feels strongly about giving back and supporting our community.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and loves cooking, reading and traveling.
