Dr. Janette Pinedo, DDS

As a typical Southern California teenager, Janette Pinedo liked the beach, her school friends and being active. She also kept a secret. "I LOVED science. For some reason, I didn't want anyone to know. Girls weren't supposed to be interested in science."

Earning her California Dental Assisting License while still in high school, she took a job in a dental office and her career path was set. She found that she had a natural knack for putting patients at ease. Her aptitude and detail-oriented personality drew the attention of other dental professionals and she was encouraged to take her skills to the top level. Continuing her education at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) with a major in Biology and minor in Psychology, she pursued her ultimate goal- admission to the highly acclaimed Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry at San Francisco's University of the Pacific (UOP).

While at UOP, Janette's fascination with science flourished as she studied specialties such as prosthodontics (tooth restoration), orthodontics, cosmetics, pediatrics, endodontics (root canal therapy), digital radiography and oral surgery. She was the first in her class to receive training in designing cosmetic veneers.

Graduating in 1995, Dr. Pinedo began practicing as a cosmetic, general, and restorative implant dentist. For over 20 years Dr. Pinedo has grown and refined her expertise, resulting in one of the finest dental practices in the Southland. She's a great believer in patient comfort, proactive care and the early detection and treatment of potential problems. "What some might call OCD, I call attention-to-detail. I always want to achieve perfection with comfort." Her highly regarded Torrance dental practice can be called a fusion of community, family, and friends. Many of her pediatric patients have grown into adults and are now bringing in children of their own. One of them is now attending dental school.

On her days off Dr. Pinedo can be found living an active California lifestyle. Whether riding bikes on the strand with her husband and children, taking Zumba classes or hiking in the foothills with her dogs, Janette makes sure that her white coat and latex gloves are never far away. After 30+ years in the dental profession, the call of science remains strong. "I still get tremendous satisfaction when I see a beautiful smile that I helped to create and the confidence it inspires!"

Dr. Lorie Mann

Dr. Lorie Mann graduated from the prestigious Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry at San Francisco's University of the Pacific (UOP) and then immediately put on the uniform of the US Air Force, working as a dentist and officer. For the next six years, she refined her considerable dentistry skills at both Los Angeles and Vandenberg Air Force Bases. She treated patients from all branches of the military, and soon realized that even the toughest and bravest patient can get a little shaky when sitting in the dentist's chair. Lorie's compassion and empathy immediately instilled confidence and reassurance in her most fearful of patients. Her natural attention-to-detail personality made Lorie a stand-out in the Air Force base dental facilities and that recognition continues to this day.

In 2009, Dr. Pinedo welcomed Dr. Mann into her busy practice, recognizing a similar dental philosophy, centered upon transformative care and a true concern for overall patient wellness.

Lorie says it best herself, "I love what I do and there is nothing better than working with patients to make their smiles healthier and more vibrant. I also like working on kids, and strive DAILY to change the opinions of those who are not members of the dentist fan club!"
